WHO WE ARE

CWE Network was born from a desire to take action against systemic racism. We are committed to BWOC (Black/Women of Colour) to host free quarterly workshops dedicated specifically to you, where we give you the tools to build a compelling CV and manage the job search effectively, whilst securing your deserved salary. We will keep these workshops engaging, to answer any questions you have always wanted to ask the recruiter. We invite you also to take part in our mentor programme as a mentee or mentor. We know it's not easy to find someone to mentor you and as women we can often be scared to ask, that's why we will make this process easier for you and match you with someone who has the right skills and motivations to help guide and inspire you.

Why are we doing this? Because we are quite simply unsatisfied. We are unsatisfied by the way in which the world treats Black people, especially Black women. Unsatisfied that a Black woman, on average, is paid 21% less than a white woman and 38% less than a white man, leading to her earning approx. $800,000 less in her lifetime. Unsatisfied that a Black woman is not hired because her braided hair was 'unprofessional'. Unsatisfied that a Black woman is beaten down by false 'white washed' beauty standards and made to shrink herself, in almost every setting. Unsatisfied that the Black woman is one of the most oppressed and marginalised people in our society.

We want to use our own individual skills to make a small footprint in the bigger picture. Being a true ally means fighting racism and lending our privilege every single day. It is about taking action wherever and with whatever you can. We live in a world with systemic and institutional racism at its core and it's not up to Black people to tackle this alone.

If you move through this life as a BWOC (Black/Woman of Colour - this includes non-binary POC) we welcome you to join our community and take part in our workshops.

We all have some form of skill we can share for the greater good. No matter how small and insignificant you might think it is, you will be surprised at the impact this can have on others. Be the inspiration and lead by example.

Refocus your energy starting now, and make the world better because you were in it.

MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME

We've all heard the expression: 'it's not what you know, it's who you know'. This is particularly true around career opportunities. This is often very challenging for BPOC especially those who come from immigration backgrounds, they simply don't have the depth of network. This is where having a mentor can be extremely powerful when it comes to personal and professional growth. Having an objective person with more life and career experience can help you face challenges and give you the tools to become even more successful, whatever success means to you. Most importantly, they are there to encourage and empower you.

With this programme, we take time to understand the motivation of both the mentor and mentee. We will uncover the skills that the mentor has to offer, along with the skills and areas that the mentee  wants to improve upon.

Whether you are a BWOC looking for a mentor or someone from any background who would like to offer your time to become a mentor (Senior Associate/Manager level and above ideally), we would love to hear from you. Please send us a short introduction along with your details and we will be in touch.

We invite everyone to take part in becoming a mentor.
